Garad Saney

Executive Director

Garad Saney Mohamed is a seasoned development professional and strategic leader with over a decade of experience spanning public service and the humanitarian sector. He brings a strong blend of academic excellence, program leadership, and communication expertise to his role as Director Programmes. He holds a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Project Management from Kenyatta University and is currently advancing his expertise by pursuing a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and impactful leadership. Throughout his career, Garad has held key leadership roles, including Development Program Manager and Director of Communication, where he successfully led high-impact initiatives, strengthened institutional visibility, and fostered meaningful partnerships with communities, governments, and development partners. His work has consistently focused on delivering sustainable solutions, improving livelihoods, and driving organizational growth in complex and dynamic environments. As a leader, Garad is recognized for his strategic vision, integrity, and results-driven approach. He has a proven ability to design and implement programs that align with donor priorities while addressing real community needs. His strong communication skills enable him to effectively engage diverse stakeholders, build trust, and mobilize resources for transformative impact. Garad is deeply committed to accountability, innovation, and inclusive development. Ilhan Abass

Head of Programs

Ihan Abass is the Head of Programmes at Farnorth Action for Change, with a strong background in public sector leadership, policy development, and development programming. She brings extensive experience from her work with the County Government of Wajir (Office of the Governor – Nairobi Liaison Office), where she leads intergovernmental coordination, builds strategic partnerships, and provides policy advisory support to strengthen development outcomes. Previously, as a County Chief Officer in Mombasa (2018–2022), she led key reforms and spearheaded major policies, including the Mombasa County Investment Policy, Climate Change Policy, and Solid Waste Management Act. Ihan has also worked in the financial sector as a Product Manager at Standard Chartered Bank and as a Consultant on SME Gender Inclusion, contributing to inclusive financing strategies. At Farnorth Action for Change, she leads the design and implementation of high-impact, community-driven programmes, ensuring they are inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with donor priorities. She is recognized for her ability to translate policy into action, mobilize partnerships, and deliver measurable development results.

Sadam Nur

Head of Operations

Sadam Nur Mohamed is a dynamic communication professional with over five years of experience in media, public service, and the humanitarian sector. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Mass Communication and brings a wealth of practical expertise in strategic communication, storytelling, and community engagement. Sadam currently serves as a Principal Communication Officer with Wajir County Government, where he has played a key role in enhancing public communication, promoting transparency, and strengthening government-citizen engagement. Prior to this, he worked with Vikings TV as a videographer and photographer, building strong skills in visual storytelling and media production. He has also contributed to humanitarian efforts through his work with Al-Ikhlas Charity Organization, supporting community-focused initiatives. At Farnorth Action for Change, Sadam plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission by amplifying impact stories, strengthening visibility, and engaging stakeholders effectively. His ability to translate complex humanitarian work into compelling narratives helps build trust with donors, partners, and the communities served. Sadam is passionate about using communication as a tool for change. He is committed to accountability, community empowerment, and impactful storytelling, positioning Farnorth Action for Change as a credible and responsive humanitarian organization.

Harriette Wanjiku

Head of Communications

Hariet Wanjiku is the Business Development and Communications Manager at Farnorth Action for Change, bringing a strong background in digital communication, stakeholder engagement, and resource mobilization. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Information, Communication and Technology and has extensive experience in strategic communication and public engagement. Prior to joining Farnorth Action for Change, Hariet served as a Principal Communication Officer with the Wajir County Government, where she played a key role in enhancing public communication and strengthening government outreach. In her current role, Hariet leads business development communication strategies, supports proposal writing and donor coordination,she is instrumental in the development and management of the organization’s website. Her work strengthens partnerships, enhances visibility, and ensures effective positioning of the organization to attract funding and strategic collaborations. She is passionate about leveraging technology and communication to drive growth, strengthen institutional branding, and position Farnorth Action for Change as an credible and impactful humanitarian organization.
